San Diego Veterinary Dental Training Center 2013

Level 1: April 5-6, June 7-8, or August 2-3

SDVDTC is an intensive training facility offering hands on wetlabs in veterinary dentistry.  We offer dental training sessions for veterinarians, technicians, and assistants. Presentations are four full hours and provide an excellent instructor to attendee ratio. Included with your enrollment is a complete syllabus of printed handouts as well as breakfast and lunch served daily.

The teaching facility is convenient to the San Diego airport (less than 10 miles) and numerous hotel options. San Diego is the ideal location for our national training center. Level I Dental Weekend     

Saturday: 

Morning: Basic periodontal therapy

2      hours of lecture and 2 hours of hands on laboratory

Open to veterinarians, technicians, and assistants

Attendees will gain expertise in performing a dental prophylaxis including supra and subgingival scaling and root planning (both ultrasonic and hand), polishing, oral exam and charting, and periocutic application.

Afternoon: Dental radiology

1 hour of lecture and 3 hours of hands on laboratory

Open to veterinarians, technicians, and assistants

Take the frustration out of dental radiology.  Attendees will learn how to take full mouth dog and cat radiographs.  We will use a new technique which does NOT require determining bisecting angles.  Anyone can take diagnostic radiographs easily and consistently.

Sunday:

Morning: Basic extraction techniques

Open to veterinarians, technicians, and technicians in training

1      hour lecture and 3 hours of hands on laboratory

The lecture part will initiate with a discussion of equipment needs and then cover pain management.  Following this, we will cover techniques for single and double root teeth in both lecture and laboratory sessions.

Afternoon: Advanced extraction techniques

30   minutes lecture and 3.5 hours of hands on laboratory

This laboratory is designed for veterinarians with significant extraction experience.  This lab will cover carnassial, molar, and canine extractions as well as ONF repair.
