Allen Skinner, DVM
Dr. Skinner earned his doctorate of veterinary medicine (DVM) from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. After completing his clinical year at Louisiana State University (LSU), he moved to San Diego to complete his rotating internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH).
Following his rotating internship, Dr. Skinner began his residency at Southern California Veterinary Dental Specialties to specialize in dentistry and oral surgery. His interests include oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, and correction of congenital malformations.
Dr. Allen Skinner grew up in rural Southeastern Ohio. He completed his undergraduate studies in biology at the College of Wooster where he also played collegiate football. Dr. Skinner’s interest in veterinary medicine began at an early age, but only after spending a summer working as a conservation biology researcher in North Dakota did he returned to Ohio to pursue veterinary medicine. Once back in Ohio, he volunteered at a local mixed animal practice in his hometown, then moved to Columbus to finish the prerequisites needed for veterinary school. While taking classes, Dr. Skinner gained veterinary knowledge while working as a veterinary assistant.
In his spare time, Dr. Skinner enjoys being outdoors, carpentry, playing sports, and spending time with his girlfriend Candace and their dogs Gus and Oscar and cats Sebastian and Simon.
